I am having one of those day where I want to get things done but other things are getting in my way. Mostly my brain and thoughts are getting in my way. Ever when writing you get the bad feeling, that should you just not go on with whatever it is you are writing? I am getting that now. Well I guess I will just put down some random thoughts that I have had the past few days.
The coupons in the Sunday paper sucked this week.
Mozart just turned 250.
Doesn't anybody stay together anymore? The 3rd breakup (in my circle of friend) in a year is happening as I type. You two are in my thoughts.

The Oscar Nominations - Where was the love for Viggo? No real surprises in the nods but the nomnations for Munich has me somewhat baffled. I know the Academy likes historical pieces.
A half-ton bull named Pajarito (Little Birdy) jumped in with the spectators at a bullfighting event in Mexico.
I stay hungry in the winter, even though it has been very warm this winter I still have what I call the hibernation hungries. Chinese food has been on my mind for about a week. Gen Tso's Chicken, egg drop soup, may some wontons, fried noodles. Not so much liking the eggrolls lately, but got to have the fortune cookie. Hmmm, sounds like dinner to me.
I may have mentioned okcupid before on here, not sure. It is like myspace.com but I think a step up. Being an online meeting place, I have attempted to message various girls for conversation, emailing, etc. I have yet to recieve a response, well I take that back. I have from people I knew before joining. At least give a response, even if it is 'do not email me again" so I can know. Jesus, never can get away from the games that people play. Hate the players, hate the games.
Pancakes
I play a lot of World of Warcraft...takes my mind off all the bad shit that I have seen the past year especially the past 3-4 months. I really like the game, it can get me worked up but I go back cause it is such a good one.
Superbowl XL - Have to go with the Steelers. I know most people are doing the same, but I think they really have the roll going on right now. Seattle is good as well but I have been a fan of the Steelers since the '70s. I think it will be close...

Nonesuch #106 - Interesting
I finally did some traveling which I have been thinking about for the past 3 months. Going to see places and friends that I have not been to or seen in quite some time. First of all, I met a friend in Greensboro adn we went to one of my favorite places to eat, Yum Yum's. It is a hot dog/ice cream place. The same family has been making ice cream at the same store since 1906, 100 years. I think they make their on hot dogs as well, I know they used to but not sure if they still do now. You go to the counter, give your order and they are made right then, no pre-made dogs. I ordered 2 with mustard only and an orange soda. My friend got her hot dogs and a Cheerwine, in a glass bottle no less! Who has any sodas in glass bottles anymore. I instantly wanted a Cheerwine. Next time...I finished my 2 hot dogs and went and ordered 2 more. They are that good. The hot dogs are all beef, taste home made, fresh - made the same day hot dog. The taste is not too overpowering like some hot dogs can be. And they are liberal with their toppings. Though I had only mustard on mine, there was plenty of it. My friend got her's all the way, mustard, chili, onions and I think there were more toppings but hard to tell since there was so much on them. The buns are steamed(is that correct?) to perfection. Ah, little slices of heaven, yes.
Then we went on to Durham, which is where my friend now lives. She bought her own house about 5 months ago and this is the first time I have seen it. Didnt do much there but watched movies. It rained all weekend. I lived in Durham for about 7 years when I was younger. Just realized that we moved there 30 years ago this coming December...I feel so old now. Anyway, we did get to drive around some and I saw the house I lived in, the church my Dad was minister of and one of the schools I attended. And people have said it before, but things were so small, much smaller than I remember. And things had changed, what places do not, but things had not changed that much as I could not pick out places and go, "Oh, a McDonald's used to be there"
It was a nice getaway, I needed it. I plan to do more of this. I need to do these things. I like my house, I am a homebody, but there is so much to see and do and food to eat. I didn't even mention the other three places we ate this weekend. I will do so in future posts but will tell you what they were now, Q-Shack, Elmo's Diner and Guglhupf Bakery, three incredible places to eat. Hmm, is this turning into a food blog? Maybe once or twice a month....

As seen on Dancinfairy's Random Outpourings From My Mixed Up Mind.
Also, I should have cited her as the source for the Top 10 Trivia Tips (post 103) post as well. I don't know where she gets all this neat stuff.

Nonesuch #104 - Take a look at my life...
Old man look at my life,
I'm a lot like you were.
Old man look at my life,
I'm a lot like you were.
Old man look at my life,
Twenty four
and there's so much more
Live alone in a paradise
That makes me think of two.
Love lost, such a cost,
Give me things
that don't get lost.
Like a coin that won't get tossed
Rolling home to you.
Old man take a look at my life
I'm a lot like you
I need someone to love me
the whole day through
Ah, one look in my eyes
and you can tell that's true.
Lullabies, look in your eyes,
Run around the same old town.
Doesn't mean that much to me
To mean that much to you.
I've been first and last
Look at how the time goes past.
But I'm all alone at last.
Rolling home to you.
Old man take a look at my life
I'm a lot like you
I need someone to love me
the whole day through
Ah, one look in my eyes
and you can tell that's true.

Heart of Gold: Neil Young Documentary coming Feb 10th 2006
Anyone that knows me, knows that I am a big Neil Young fan for at least the last 13 years. I liked his music before but really got into his work my senior year in college.
I have seen him at least 4 times in concert, each time different. From the hard rockin sounds of his Crazy Horse stuff to the acoustic songs from Harvest Moon and others, all great shows, all great sounds, all great songs.

Not much has really gone on since my last post. I am still fighting a cold that I got two weeks ago tomorrow, so most of the new year has been me sleeping on the couch watching bad daytime TV. Well, some shows are worse than others, will not watch Maury ever again, Springer on the other hand can be a delight. Yeah, I missed doing anything for New Year's Eve. I really wanted to do something other than sit in the house and watch Dick Clark and the ball drop. I was happy to see him back on this year afer the stroke he had last year. It was inspirational. I had a myspace.com web area for about a week, couldnt handle the falseness I saw with the people I encountered. It may just have been because it was a holiday week and everyone and their mother was on but I deleted the account and have not looked back. I do have a okcupid account. Its somewhat better, it seems folks on there do not take themselves as serious plus I have some real life friends I can keep up with. What did we do before email, cellphones and the internet? I have friends all over the world I can keep up with.

Happy New Year....I have made the following resolution:
I will make no more new year's resolutions.
I find them to be little promises that we make to ourselves that in most cases are never carried through when our lives and regular routines get back into order. Why set myself up just to let myself down come mid-January. I have enough of that coming from other people...
