Will people actually watch this?

Dancing With The Stars announces new line-up:

Laila Ali - yeah that Ali's daughter
Billy Ray Cyrus - achy breakydancin is ahead
Clyde Drexler - NBA superstar
Joey Fatone - N'sync, um no
Shandi Finnessey - who?
Leeza Gibbons - former Entertainment Tonight co-host
Apolo Ono - huh? why? Don't think that you get 16 minutes in the spotlight

Paulina Porizkova - 80s supermodel
Ian Ziering - hairpiece or not?
Heather Mills - yep the estranged wife of Paul McCartney. There is a joke somewhere with this selection... Oh come on, I am sure I am not the only one that thought it.

I guess folks will, I guess they will.

*update*

Vincent Pastore, Soprano's Big Pussy, pulls out of the Dancing With the Stars competition because it was just too much hard work.

I have seen this at other blogs and I thought it would be interesting to do as well. Using sitemeter I can look and see what folks were searching for when they stumbled across my blog. If it gets boring, I will stop.

boone, chik-fil-a
coy and vance duke
tropicana sugar-free orangeade
Sanders Trippe
what size shoe did john lennon' wear
weird al
babyfishmouth software
lyrics to imogene heap-hide and seek
mike doughty overdose
cancelling eharmony
Mr. Palumbo, Mrs. Emel (peanut butter hot dogs)
don't have to ask permission when i go out fishin
IPOD MST3K Gamera vs. Barugon
does william shatner have glaucoma

Ok so that was boring but I only had 5 pages of searches to look through and then there was a few that repeated so I only put them down once.

I still find it interesting that people from all over come to this site. Yeah, I know, everyone says that I am sure.

Nonesuch #269 Swap meet and greet

The swap meet and greet happened last Friday. I had planned to come early stay awhile, leaving around 10 and getting home at 11. I left at 1am and got home at 2am. I had a good time. I think it was what I needed. I know I never got around to taking pictures of what I was going to take but here is what I ended up taking:

videos
Holy Man with Eddie Murphy
Christmas Vacation
Princess Bride( I have it on DVD now)

2 5lb weights

1 pack of incense

gift bag with snow and bears on it

and a few other things that I cannot remember right now and a surprise. I wasn't sure if I should bring that last item as it has/had potential embarrassing consequences so I left it in the car. There was a good sized crowd, mostly librarians, a few I went to library school with but none that I thought would be there so very little mention of CW was made. As the crowd thinned out and all that was left was us hardcore folks, of course the conversation turned to sex which is always seems to do. I should have mentioned earlier that there were a few single attractive girls there. And let me tell you I really got my flirt on which I hadn't done in along time. One particular was a Swiss girl that we kept talking to one another. She had just completed a human sexuality course and was talking about this item or that item. That was when I knew I could get the surprise. I went to my car and returned with "More Joy of Sex", the update for the 90s. It was a gift from CW back when things were going well. It had an inscription that right there at the party I took a Sharpie and marked out. The Swiss Girl took it from my hands and said: "This is the best swap. This is great" and immediately opened it up and started looking at the pictures and reading the chapters. She then asked about the inscription and about CW but I said "No, didn't want to get into that." And she was cool with that. Then she said, "So, you know all these positions? Is that why you are getting rid of the book?" I said, "Of course" and laughed.

And no, there was no hookup
(as per the Bits on the Side Girlsbut I had not read that post yet).

Swiss Girl is 21, just a wee bit young I think or I am a wee bit old for her. She did say that I was not an old man like I was calling myself. Like I said, it was what I needed. It had been a long time since I have been to a party and was around available single attractive girls that I could see myself having fun with. As I left the party she said many good times would come reading the book and I just gave a thumbs up. So, overall a good night and the punch was fantastic.

In other party happenings, I met my friend Eoh's new boyfriend. And to be honest I didn't want to like him, but he is a good guy. He is from Manchester, England so a very laid back guy that seems to have it together. Good taste in music but more importantly, he makes Eoh happy. She has had her rough patches with guys and relationships. I do wish the best for them.

Pictures were taken and I hope to get to see some of them. I took my camera but forgot the batteries, so I am having to wait and see if Eoh's roommate puts pictures on Flickr.

And now for the obligatory "I hate Valentine's Day" segment of this post. It sucks, it puts pressure on both men and women to show their lovers how special they are on this one day. Why not do that everyday? VD has always sucked for me. In grade school, our teachers told us to get VD card for all of our classmates but I would end up with none, well one but it was from my best friend. Does that even count? And people in the class would get 50 card and we only had 20 or so students in the class, were they sending cards to themselves? And yes, it was mostly the girls who got them cause well guys just don't give VD cards to each other. So were they starting early with the sending of gifts to themselves at an early age? I read somewhere that 50% of women have sent flowers to themselves on VD day or their birthday so it looks like they have someone who sent them flowers. For men, I hear " I have no one to send card or buy flowers etc, woe is me". And no, I will not do the secret admirer thing ever...again. Just set myself up for a big letdown. My Dad once said: "Women pull all the strings when getting together for the first date, if she hasn't made overtones or left you know she is interested in some way, 9 times out of 10, it just ain't going to happen." As a man, we want to impress the ladies but when everything I do does not work I ask, what can I do? I guess impress is not the right word, maybe like me for who I am not what I can get you. And I realize there are asshats out there that lie, cheat do anything they can to get women into bed and see how quick they can get out of there or see how many they can be doing at the same time behind each one of their backs. But women can be lying, cheating asshats also. Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt, t-shirt has holes in it, and scars to prove it. Women: can't live with them, can't live with them. Hell is other people. Yadda, yadda, yadda. And no, I don't mean all women, just the ones I dated, hehe. Of course I have no contact with any of them so what does it matter anyway.

I live by the motto, be good to one another. I try to do that everyday, sometimes I fail, sometimes I succeed. Most of the time I fall somewhere in between but at least I try. So many people just do not care for one reason or the other. Apathy spreads like a virus on a cruise ship. Where has trust gone? Down the shitter? What about respect? Or were all these things told to us by our parents, teachers, clergy, elders as ideals they wanted to see but knew deep in their hearts that they were unobtainable?

Nonesuch #268

Dad is home. I talked to him earlier. He sounded good. I didn't even ask if he watched the game. Mom said he only had 5 channels to choose from so I am guessing he did not. Duke lost but there is another game next month at Chapel Hill.

Dad is still in the hospital. They want to be sure he has his strength back, eating solid food etc. His doctor said that one of the ER doctors had the same thing and was out of work for about a week, so they think it may take 2-3 weeks for my Dad to fully recover.

Big night in basketball, Duke - UNC game, 1st of two games, one at each home court and if we dare to dream, a possible 3rd in the ACC tournament come March. I cannot think of a bigger rivalry in any sport, not just college basketball in the US. I am not sure about the world so I will not say that.

Anne is not feeling well. Go give her a hello and look at pictures of her dog Rickey getting a bath.

I hope my Dad is watching the game.

My Dad is in the hospital. They think it is a virus that really took him for a loop last night. They are running tests but everything seems to be ok but his sugar levels which are very high so that could be the cause as well. That is why they kept him overnight. My Mom called me twice when I was in the shower this morning but gave me little details. Ends up the message was cut off and I didn't get the room number etc and she had to turn her cell phone off when she was in the room so I couldn't reach them. But now I have the number and have talked to her.

*update*
He will be staying another night just to make sure the virus is taken care of. He was feeling better but now not so much so they want to keep him.

all my friends are married
every Tom and Dick and Harry
you must be strong
to go it alone
here's to the bachelors
and the bowery bums
and those who feel that they're the ones
who are better off without a wife

I like to sleep until the crack of noon
midnight howlin' at the moon
goin' out when I wanto, comin' home when I please
I don't have to ask permission
if I want to go out fishing
and I never have to ask for the keys

never been no Valentino
had a girl who lived in Reno
left me for a trumpet player
didn't get me down
he was wanted for assault
though he said it weren't his fault
well the coppers rode him right
out of town

I like to sleep until the crack of noon
midnight howlin' at the moon
goin' out when I wanto, comin' home when I please
I don't have to ask permission
if I want to go out fishing
and I never have to ask for the keys

selfish about my privacy
as long as I can be with me
we get along so well I can't believe
I love to chew the fat with folks
and listen to all your dirty jokes
I'm so thankful for these friends
I do receive

I like to sleep until the crack of noon
midnight howlin' at the moon
goin' out when I wanto, comin' home when I please
I don't have to ask permission
if I want to go out fishing
and I never have to ask for the keys

Nonesuch #263

All the women who read this out there go over to Virginia Belle's blog and give her some support. I would say the men as well but she is not too happy with us guys at the moment and after reading her latest post I don't blame her at all. What happened to her is what makes, and I say this not to boast or sound better than others but, the nice guys look so bad and have so much trouble winning the trust back from good women like VB and Anne and Joie and others. And I would apologize on behalf of all men but the asshat deserves everything he gets, the asshat bastard.
